AAF in Iraq

Health & MHPSS

Shelter & Infrastructure Rehabilitation

Shelter & Infrastructure Rehabilitation

AAF supports over 10 hospitals across Iraq with medicines, labs, mobile units, staff, and infrastructure. We launched Iraq’s first specialized MHPSS clinic in Sinjar, which has now expanded across Ninewa, Anbar, and beyond. The clinic provides trauma care and child-friendly services.

AAF helps displaced families rebuild homes and infrastructure, with hundreds supported across Ninewa. Through the USAID program, we also revitalized Sinjar’s automotive sector, restoring 22 workshops and restoring livelihoods.

Fu-chan's Fund

The Fuchan Fund is a new humanitarian initiative dedicated to raising awareness and protecting Iraq’s beloved singing birds—the bulbuls—who are increasingly threatened by hunting and illegal trade. Named after Fu-chan, a bulbul bought from a local market and now unable to survive in the wild, the fund symbolizes the urgent need to preserve these birds in their natural habitat, where they struggle to thrive or reproduce in captivity.

Launching on May 13, 2025, the fund is open to individuals, groups, schools, initiatives, and local NGOs. Individual applicants may request up to $900, while groups and organizations can apply for grants of up to $55,000. The total fund for its inaugural year is $58,000.

This initiative is funded by the Qaradaghi Group, which has committed 2% of its annual profits to support the Fu-chan Fund and similar conservation efforts for years to come.

Expressions of interest will be accepted via email until June 9. Selected applicants will then receive detailed instructions on how to apply and what documentation is required. Together, we can help ensure the voice of the bulbul continues to echo across Iraq’s landscapes
